Product Review: Benefit the POREfessional

Wow, it’s been so long since we’ve last posted anything on Lescordonniers 🙂 I wonder if anyone still reads this blog? Since I have more time now, I’m hoping to update this blog more. Maybe I’ll get Mushroom back on the blogging train too 😉

In today’s post, I’ll be reviewing the ultra popular product, Benefit’s POREfessional.

I’ve noticed pores around my nose area and cheek and I wanted something to blur the visibility of them under my makeup, almost like photoshop makeup if you will. Over the years I’ve heard about Benefit’s miracle product, the POREfessional and how it would help with diminishing pores and fine lines. I’ve watched a lot of Youtube videos with demos on how to use the product, and what to layer it with. It looked promising and I made the plunge and picked it up at Sephora one day after work and tried it out the next morning. Continue reading

Restaurant Review: Al Porto Ristorante

The boyfriend and I went to Al Porto for a belated birthday dinner for myself on Friday. It was near where my boyfriend worked in Downtown, so we had a sweet romantic after work stroll in town before our lovely meal.

Upon entering there is a host whom greeted you, asked for reservation name and seated you promptly. We had a nice seat near the traditional Italian pizza oven (first time I ever seen one in the flesh! I was so excited and because of the pizza oven I was craving pizza 😛 Our server, Nate, was extremely polite and courteous even though we had a Groupon deal. I’vehad terrible experiences at high end restaurants who don’t even bother to give you the time of day when they know you have a deal. Anyways, I am allergic to Oregano just as severely as people are allergic to peanuts, and Nate was very helpful with the choices to make for my meal. So if you are reading this Nate, thank you!

First off, we had the traditional Italian bread slices with butter. It was unremarkable, except one of the bussers (not our main waiter) noticed our bread platter was empty and asked if we would liked refills. We were always attended to, but they would never be in your face.

Review: Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte

After lunch with the boyfriend and some of his colleagues last week I made the mistake of visiting the Chanel counter.  It was a quick, innocent trip and I just wanted to check out the selections they had. I knew I didn’t want eyeshadow (another fail for a girl, will post about that later). I knew I wasn’t in the market for another blush (I already have one I’m eyeing at MAC), and I didn’t want eyeliner (I already found my muse at the Drugstore).

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not the type of girl to just fork over a bunch of cash like that. However, I knew I wanted something from Chanel and I ended up going for the Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte.

When I went to the counter, the Chanel girl tried selling me their beige line of cosmetics but the black packaging stole my heart. I said, “take my money!!” and took this baby home. Continue reading

Movie Review: Gravity (2013) Spoiler Alerts

Duration: 91 minutes
Genre: Drama, SciFi, Thriller
Year: 2013

I remember watching the trailer for Gravity while I was watching a movie in the theatre in the summer, and I was so pumped and excited about this movie. Something about being lost in space has always terrified me to no point that I wanted to watch raw human emotion when they were faced with this situation. Fear is always something so private and personal that you almost don’t want anyone else to see you wallowed up in terror. At least that’s the case for me. Since I was a young girl, I never let other people (including my family) see me cry. So it’s amazing watching this movie when you see two astronauts who have achieved so much academically and in their work life fight for their lives. Continue reading

Review: Essie’s Millionails Fiber Shield & Iron Strengthener

Another fail for a girl – wow, this month I’ve been on a role admitting all my beauty fails! I wonder if I will list out my beauty passes next month hehe. Anyway back to the fail.

I have the most brittle, soft nails ever. They’re so soft that it’s kind of hard for me to open packages and things that needs to be picked at (no not my nose LOL! AHAHA). Anyways, this is the reason why I never got into nail polish at all – I was afraid that one coat and you’d see the nails peel. Yes I know it sounds so bad that I should’ve put a warning on this blog post XD.  Continue reading

Tech Talk: Google Drive App

Let me get this straight. We, as girls, HATES it when other guys say they understand our pain (when it’s “that time of the month”), right? Well, another thing they don’t understand is how we carry so much stuff in our day purse but still manage to forget things when on the go! But as a techy girl, I’m here to talk about an app that has done wonders for me on-the-go and at home!

Please forgive me for doing a review on a product I JUST hauled. I can’t find any excuse not to rave about this product!  Today I’ll be reviewing the Maybelline Line Stylist eyeliner pencil in Expresso. You can find these at drugstores such as Rite Aid, WalMart, Target. I’m not sure about Walgreens and CVS (but there’s a high possibility).
