Despicable Me 2 and K-pop: What do they have in common?

Some of my friends are going crazy for those yellow minions and are stalking out McDonalds every time a new Despicable Me 2 toy is released. I cannot comprehend this craziness because I’ve never seen the movie. Yet. Or maybe, ever. I know Little Sheepy has seen the movie and have really enjoyed it (I see a movie review post in our draft folder!).

Anyway, so there’s this relatively new sticker thing on Facebook where you can download stickers and use them in your Facebook messages. I downloaded the Despicable Me 2 stickers so that I can use them in my group chat (I hate feeling left out) and I noticed this minion holding onto bananas. My K-pop brain started kicking into action for no reason, and I thought of 2PM’s Chansung. Why? Because the boy loves bananas.

Off I go into the weird and wonderful world of Google, type in “Chansung banana” then I have a smile on my face. STRIKE!!!!! I have a post for our blog.

Random Recap: Mamma Mia Episode 7

mammamia001I’ve been watching numerous videos on the KBS World youtube channel recently and enjoyed laughing hard at Shinhwa guesting on Happy Together, 2PM’s appearance on Gag Concert and my first K-variety love, 2 Days 1 Night.  While I was watching these, I noticed interesting thumbnails for the show Mamma Mia (맘마미아).  I clicked on the one that featured Nickhun on it, which was episode 7, and I was greatly entertained.  Hence this little post about the episode and a new column for this blog: Random Recap.  I guess all other non-serial recaps that I do will fall in this category.

This show brings on celebrities’ mothers on the show.  It is a daring concept because it will either be a huge success or tank miserably.  These are ladies without media training, unlike their children, who may thrive under the spotlight or disappear into nothing-ness when overtaken with nervousness or by the power of editing (Ctrl-X!).  They may say something out of the blue to make their children fall into deeper scandals or use words and phrases that are improper for broadcast.  On the other hand, these are the ladies that have changed the diapers of the hottest celebs in the Korean entertainment world and basically holds the key to interesting stories about these celebs.  Also, mothers usually have weird effects on their children.  I wish they handed out a tiny shots of soju to the moms before the show.  Alcohol = Exposé.  *Huge Grin*  It’s also fun hearing the various Korean accents that the mothers have, specific to the regions that they are from.

Kwanghee & Sunhwa – We Got Married Episode 165

I guess most We Got Married fans would have found out by now that Kwanghee and Sunhwa are quitting the show. While this episode does feel like it is their last filming together, it does not specifically say that it is the last episode for Kwanghee and Sunhwa. We might get another episode of Kwanghee and Sunhwa this weekend.

ScreenShot012

Kwanghee is putting together a table of refreshments. Once he’s done, he calls Sunhwa to check on her whereabouts. She is nearby so he decides to wait for her at the door. Sunhwa walks through the door just when Kwanghee arrives at the door. Instead of a warm greeting, Kwanghee shouts “Ya!” at Sunhwa for coming through the door before he could guide her in. He notices her outfit and look for the day then immediately softens. She does look beautiful! He compliments her by saying that she looks like Song Hye Kyo (which she does here!). Kwanghee calls himself Jo In Sung for the day.

Song Hye Kyo and Jo In Sung recently filmed a drama together called That Winter The Wind Blows

We Got Married Global Edition

20130322-224153.jpg

I am not a fan of the global edition. I’ve seen one episode of the previous season with Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and a Chinese actress as well as T-ara’s Hyomin and a manipulative Chinese singer. Not a fan 😦 Personally I feel the language barrier really slow things down and you need to watch two people express themselves through gestures. Yes, lots of arm flapping involved!

If you’re still interested, I have included a link to the preview below! They have FT Island’s Lee Hongki and 2PM’s Taecyeon on board for this season. Enjoy!
